Richard E. LaMotta
Founder, CEO, Chairman of the Board, “Mr. Chipwich”
Richard LaMotta is "Mr. Chipwich", the guy who originally thought of putting ice cream between two chocolate chip cookies and selling it on the streets.
Yes, in 1981 Richard created a guerilla marketing campaign, and trained and enlisted 100 street cart vendors (students) to sell the mighty Chipwich to famished and overheated New Yorkers. Two decades…thousands of pushcarts nationally…and a billion (that’s right, a billion) Chipwiches later, Coolbrands, the country’s second-largest ice cream distributor, bought Richard’s company.
Not a bad gig. Richard is also a world-renowned entrepreneur. He’s been featured in over 8,000 major stories in newspapers, magazines and other media covering the past 25 years. He’s received more awards than Titanic, including the Ad Age Executive Marketing Award, Adweek Magazine’s Hottest Product of the Year Award, and Sales and Marketing Magazine’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
(But, really, it’s all about the Chipwich.)
En route to stardom, Richard earned a B.S. in Economics from Brooklyn College, a J.D. from New York Law School, all while studying at night.
"When I Was Your Age…"
While Richard held many part-time jobs during high school, including delivering newspapers, bussing tables in a restaurant, and working as a sales clerk, his big break came at age eighteen, as a college freshman. Richard developed his own record label and (after negotiating with the college business office, music professors, and executives at RCA, BMG Music, Deutche Grammophon, etc.) created a two-record album featuring recordings for the Music 101 class required of all city college students. He then sold over fifty-thousand albums.

Sam Metzger
Co-Founder, President, Secretary, Triple-Threat
Who would you want as President of your new snack food business? Besides Bill Gates. Forget Donald Trump for a second. And Milton Hershey died in 1945. No, you’d want the consummate entrepreneur, lawyer, and foodie.

Enter Sam Metzger, the triple-threat of myStudentBiz. Early in his career, Sam specialized in labor and corporate law, so he’s familiar with both management and employees. During the 1970s, Sam served as Vice President, General Counsel, and Director of Flagship Corporation, the Northeast’s largest food distributor, so he knows a thing or two about spreading food around (like the Easter Bunny, but with an eye for profit). A professor of Entrepreneurial Studies since 2001 at the Parsons School of Design, Sam knows how to help young businesspeople like you. And over the past twenty years as an investor in consumer product companies, you can be sure Sam knows what products and strategies will work. Lucky for us, he’s on our side.
Sam holds a B.A. in Economics from The College of William and Mary, and an L.L.B. from NYU Law School.
"When I Was Your Age…"
Before getting to the top, Sam started at the bottom as a bag boy at his local supermarket, a caddy at the local golf course, a flower delivery boy, and a lifeguard. But hey, now look at him.

Raymond L. M. Wong
Co-Founder, Director, Overachiever
When you need strategies formulated and finances raised – or even formulas strategized and raises financed – here’s your guy. Raymond has the experience, integrity, and, let’s just say it, genius to get the job done.
After retiring from Merrill Lynch as Senior Managing Director of the Investment Banking Department, Raymond helped found myStudentBiz. With twenty-five years of experience managing money matters for big-name Merrill Lynch clients, Raymond has been stewarding vast sums of capital for longer than the Olsen twins have graced the tabloids.
Finding his summa cum laude Yale B.A. inadequately prestigious, Raymond overachieved an M.B.A. with honors from Harvard in 1977 (for those of you doing the math, he’s still young enough to date Catherine Zeta Jones). In his spare time (sleep? what’s sleep?) Raymond also acts as a director of Alleghany Corporation, Avotus Corporation, and Merrill Lynch ventures, so he’s used to supervising boggling sums of money for very, very important people. Like you.
"When I Was Your Age…"
Back in high school, Raymond was the kid who showed up at your doorstep selling personalized Christmas cards and flower/vegetable seeds. Then, to help put himself through college, he delivered bed linens for Yale Student Laundry. (If only Chipwich had been around then!)

Jeffery A. Koetje
Executive Vice President, Data Wizard
If myStudentBiz were a Mission Impossible movie, Jeff Koetje would be the technology wizard who disables security systems, drains Swiss bank accounts, and reroutes incoming C.I.A. e-mail to BritneySpears.com, all with his laptop.
Except in our case, Jeff uses his powers for good.
Jeff began his career of technological intrigue in 1997 as an analyst at Lazard Freres and Company. Then, in 2000, he went rogue and founded the eponymous Koetje Technologies (KTI), supplying the information technology needs of small and mid-sized businesses. In 2005, Business Technology Partners acquired KTI, and now he’s on the myStudentBiz team. With over ten years of experience with IT infrastructures, he’ll keep all our data flowing.
Jeff holds a dual degree, a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and an A.A.S. in Diversified Business from Ferris State University.
"When I Was Your Age…"
Jeff started working on a farm at age 12. He also worked in a greenhouse, coached youth basketball, painted, sold Cutco knives, and worked the night security detail in his school dorm. Always the thrill-seeker, Jeff demonstrated his aquatic prowess in the Lethal Weapon water stunt show at Six Flags Great Adventure after college graduation.

Even today, you can still hear John providing legal commentary for CBS Radio. Of course, we’re lucky enough to hear him all the time providing legal advice to myStudentBiz.

James Guido
Consultant, Gourmet Guru
When inventing the next big snack food, even Mr. Chipwich seeks advice from experts like James Guido. Over the past thirty years, James has masterminded countless innovative and award-winning food concepts. Take health-food stores, for example, which are so plentiful now that you can’t throw a terrier without hitting one. James established one of the first, Garden of Eden, in the 1970s. (Talk about forward-thinking!)

He didn’t stop there. Oh, no. James followed with East-West, New York City’s first gourmet natural food restaurant, which was frequented by such celebrities as John Lennon and Yoko Ono. He then developed his own product line of organic juices and pates, which he marketed to health food stores and supermarkets.
Looking ahead once again, James convinced the A&P Food Emporium of the coming wave of organic foods, then created food programs for NutriSystems.
With his encyclopedic knowledge of product development, quality control, manufacturing, and packaging, James will help myStudentBiz create the ultimate snack food.
"When I Was Your Age…"
In high school, James worked for a friend’s landscape business mowing lawns in the summer and selling Christmas trees in the winter. During college at Brooklyn College, James delivered Silver Star Ravioli and Italian bread to delis and food stores. This job allowed him to choose his own accounts and work around his school schedule. (Sound familiar?)
